While the current economic downturn has caused the cancellation of several long-standing motorcycle events around the country, Ignacio Bike Week is going strong, bringing motorcyclists from all over the United States to Southwest Colorado for the 16th year. Among the biggest names to chuck it in for 2009 is the Honda Hoot. Also biting the dust this year is Rider Rally 35, sponsored by Rider magazine. The Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’ Elegance was canceled in May because of the effects of the economy on many of its sponsors.
Because of its continued success and the increasing participation each year, the Ignacio Bike Week rally committee is making some changes to accommodate its guests. Food vendors, which have outgrown the space where all of them had been located, will be spread out up and down Goddard Avenue, the main street through Ignacio.
Expanding the rally further, plans call for a “Pit Row” at the south end of town. This will be a location for all things mechanical: pin striping, lighting, oil changes, dyno tuning, bike detailing and certain competitions.
The centrally located beer tent sponsored by Budweiser will now feature coffee and pastries during the morning hours. We’ll have locally roasted coffee and a variety of baked delights for that morning pick-me-up. The beer taps will begin flowing at noon each day, with live music each afternoon and on into the evening.
The longtime favorites are still on the schedule. There will be four days of poker runs taking riders through the variety of terrain and scenery for which southwest Colorado is famous. Biker bull riding and the various biker competitions will again provide entertainment for participants and spectators alike. Being a family event, Ignacio Bike Week will also have special events for the kids Saturday. Sunday’s bike parade will be a colorful showcase of rally riders going in both directions along Goddard Avenue.
As in years past, a wide variety of vendors and artists will line both sides of Goddard Avenue, along with thousands of motorcycles of all sizes, shapes and colors. From T-shirts to tattoos, leather to lattes, it will all be here.

Ignacio Bike Week: THE Four Corners Motorcycle Rally is based in Ignacio, Colorado, where the town, residents and members of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe along with Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (ret.) have invited bikers to visit and stay over the Labor Day weekend for 16 years!
From downtown Ignacio where the Chamber of Commerce sponsors Ignacio Bike Week™ to the Sky Ute Casino to the City of Durango and beyond, the bike Rally extends throughout the entire Four Corners area.
Bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts return to Ignacio and the Four Corners annually to visit with friends, attend all the great events from concerts to bull riding, to riding the most magnificent mountain and desert terrain that a biker can ever dream about.
We invite you to come and party with us this coming Labor Day.You will find that the motorcycle Rally is a people's rally.
